One Shot Wednesday - Week 14

Welcome To One Shot Wednesday
home to some of the best
poetry on the web

I am brian miller and welcome to your moment in the spotlight. Do you know what inspired the name "one shot"? An eminem song..."You only get one shot, do not miss your chances to blow, opportunity comes once in a lifetime, yo!" Don't blame it on my cohorts, lol. Here is your opportunity...go on and step up to the mic. I can not wait to see what you have in store for us tonight.

If you are new to One Shot Wednesday here is the deal:

1) Write a poem
2) Link your poem to One Shot using our Mr Linky (your name and the URL for the poem)
3) Visit other One Shot poets. Tell them how you felt when reading, encourage them, interact...honestly this is my favorite part...
4) Tell others about One Shot Wednesday by including a link to this page on your post.

On behalf of One Shot Wednesday, Pete Marshall, Adam Dustus, Leslie Moon, Claudia, Chris and myself, welcome to the stage. We are glad you are here. Now on with the show!

My one shot is a bit of nonsense, in the sense that the Jabberwocky was nonsense, but in a serious way. I am curious to know what you all think of this one, so do leave a comment letting me know.

Beneath the Stanid Sky

Now, off to read some other one shots!

For the braver poets out there, you can also try combatwords.blogspot.com on Fridays, at 3pm PST. It has a simple critique system, which allows for scoring & prevents useless flames/arguments. Anyone can critique & anyone can post; it's basically a crowd-sourced system for scoring compositions--with a method for adjudicating differences of opinion.

I enjoy OSW; I never know when I'm going to read a comp that surprises me. That's the fun.

I finally made the time to visit this site after reading an interview on Brian Miller. I'm so glad I did. I think it's wonderful to bring so many writers and poets together.

I've been writing (for myself mostly) for many years, but poetry never appealed to me until now. It's my new passion and I consider this site to be my new university. I plan to learn much while enjoying the talents that come across this site.

Thank you all who host this and thanks Brian for mentioning it.

Please keep us informed of ways we can make this spot more community oriented. I am also sorry for the stinky Mr. Linky.

Welcome to those of you who are visiting for the first time - we appreciate each one of you for your talent and your friendship.
