Dustus Friday Spotlight: Introducing Poet Marinela Reka

Welcome to Dustus Friday on One Stop Poetry!

There’s a rising star from London in the poetic blogosphere, and her name is Marinela Reka.  This young lady is 14 years old and has been writing since age 6. Her precocious brilliance online continues to win over fans, especially through her Facebook page where nearly 9,000 individuals endorse her lyrical skill!

******************
Marinela's blog is called Short Poems. Since crossing paths with her through previous poetry rallys, she continues to impress me. Having been on my blog roll for a long time, I suspect her growing following is due in large part to her poetic compositions, respect for Poetry, and positive attitude. In addition, she released two poetry books available through her site. Her latest is called Little Whispers, and one cannot help predicting the continuation of an extremely bright future.

Marinela offers us 3 poems: "Beautiful liar!"
...followed by"Time" & "Everybody has the chance"

****************

Beautiful liar!

If when there are elections
The beautiful snow was taking part
My desirable fascination for it
Would bring joy to my young heart

The unique individual snowflakes
The frosted and alabaster white coat
The delight of seeing everyone merry
Snow, you have definitely got my vote

My soul feels alive as see the blissful sight
My lungs breathes as I smell the fresh air
My eyes tingle as the flakes drift down
And charmingly land on my soft hair

But when the sun shines and the rain falls
The absolutely brilliant snow starts to melt
I begin to see that nothing is perfect
And no longer feel the same feelings I felt!

The snow I fell in love with has gone
Instead left some slippery, stubborn thick ice
It is no longer safe to drive or to walk
So next time I vote I have to think twice!

It turns out to be a miserable misfortune
And not the utterly beautiful snow we desire
It just looks like what we adore and love
Is nothing but a very beautiful liar!

****************

Time

Time is a hungry caterpillar
Our days are its prey
Before we all know it
Our whole life fades away

****************

Everybody has the chance

Everybody has the chance
To do a good deed
If you are driving near a school
Lower down your speed
Or maybe when you see the homeless
Give them a pound or two
Lower the sound on the T.V
If the elderly live near you
I am not saying that you must
Give away lungs or your heart
But remember it’s the smallest things
That play the biggest part

“...We all live on the same earth and under the same sun (unless any of you are aliens!).  So when I write about my temper and how I feel, I am not only talking about myself, I am talking about you guys too, many of you may go through similar situations.”  —Marinela Reka

Thank you, Marinela. I appreciate the extra effort and humble gratitude you showed over being featured today. Write On!

I love Marinela's site. I came across it awhile ago and her acrostic poems inspired me to try one, which I did on my blog about 10 days ago. I have another one that will be posted within the next week, too. Great to see her spotlighted here. Congrats, Marinela, and thanks for the inspiration!

yes - we definitely need teens who write poetry and let us have a glimpse at the world through a teenager's eyes. jumped over to her site...marinela, your poetry is so positive and pleasant at a time when lots of teenagers struggle. so thanks for setting accents of hope for a forthcoming generation and not only for them

thanks adam for spotlighting!

~I also feel that writing like this can help other youth with literacy in a whole new sense with a sweet positive influence in the creative writing fields.

~Adam thanks for sharing Marinela's work and blog information with us, it's so rewarding to see the next generation involving themselves in the manner she has! Fantastic! ~April
