Moondustwriter's Thursday - music poetry prompt

Welcome to Moondustwriter Thursday.

I'm going to change things up today. I'm feeling in the wintry mood. Early in 2010 I responded to a poetry prompt. The prompt instructed us to write a poem/prose based on the inspiration of the music. There are many ways this can be done. You can close your eyes and listen then return and write. You can write with your eyes closed - Ha or write with your eyes open. Here's the kicker once you walk away form the poem and the song there is no more editing.  The thought is that your poem is at its purest most inspired form. You may just write a series of  words speaking of your inspiration. Please use the musical inspiration of one of my favorite contemporary composers George Winston. Because both songs are long you can opt on just half of one song. If you are brave , you may want to try your hand at both.
Enjoy the quiet that time to listen and write affords - I am.

Please listen to December by George Winston

OR...

I chose to write my poem on the Walking in the Air piece

The Snowflakes Have to Fall
the snowflakes have to fall
 snowflakes have to fall
today
*
 they're making for me
 make for me
an imprint
*
the snowflakes have to fall
  snowflakes have to fall
today
they once were in my mind
once were in my mind
faraway
*
then I didn't know
 the painful feel of snow
I was in a dance of your warm romance
sun's rays
*
the snowflakes have to fall
 snowflakes have to fall
today
*
forever thy will fall
forever they will fall
on my life
*
walking in this life
 I feel the chilling strife
 frozen in this place
 without your warm embrace
memories of warm arms
wrapped in mine
 against
the night
*
your soft lips
pressed to mine
they were
 all I knew
they were my
 sweet sun rise
our sweet
 Pas De Deux
***
Our dance slowed
she strummed your cords
she- knowing  right words
 cords pulled at you
breaking me in two
breaking
apart
*
pulled strings of your heart
you fought to hold me
the pull of brilliant reds and oranges
her fingers  were too strong for you
her beauty was a masterpiece
you looked me in the eyes with pleas
and said goodbye
tears a trace
I saw the rivulets
on your face
and
*
I said my sincere goodbye
a smile I surely did not feel
The winter has become my cherished friend
enfolds me
 in
its white
*
I am impervious to the cold
 icicles of life
my friends
*
Summer memories hold me
in that dream
of your smile
my dear
ever in here
ever loved
ever mine
*
one day you will hold sunshine
 near me
one last
kiss

one last
time
*

the snowflakes have to fall
 snowflakes have to fall
today
*
they represent in me
represent in me
 decay
*
the snowflakes have to fall
 snowflakes have to fall
today
*
reminding me of what
reminding me of what
I gave
*
yes but as long as they fall
I know your heart of hearts
feels me
too

the poetry went well with the music...it flowed. since snow flakes are similar but never the same, the poem captured the uniqueness of a snowflake.

wonderful poem.
fit very well with the music..
images haunted me....winter with the lingering ache of heartache and loss
and memories of the warmth and passion of love
and yet how each snowflake that falls as with each person we let into our lives is unique.
wonderful merging of two mediums.
Thanks for exploring

A quiet morning with some lovely inviting music and your wonderful poetry Leslie. In this I could feel the sense of chilled air with its snow drifts swaying to-and-fro and the changes that linger memories of warmth. ~ Beautiful writing Leslie! :) April *hugs to you dear! *snowflakes expected here today too

Wonderful words, Moondustwriter! I know what an inspiration music can be. I wrote my piece, bit by bit, while listening to the songs of guitarist-extraordinaire Adrian Legg. Each segment came from a different song.

Oh, dear friend. This poem is filled with so much pain, and the music holds a magnifying glass to it and draws out every icy detail.

Just beautiful.

Cool idea, Leslie. Brings back memories, too -- the very first time I heard George Winston music was in the gift shop of the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina in 1985. And I bought the cassette tape.

The comparison of the snowflakes to the connection falling and changing is so well done, my Moon Sista.

*sigh*

Musical poetry :) the perfect kind! I tend not to write in rhyme (much to my younger brother's disappointment) so for me, my Willow Song, is the singing kind. Hope the Little Brother approves... and you! Thankyou for your charming snowflake poem, I danced with it as it fell...

WOW.. what a great Snowflake poem.

I used December for my inspiration, my poem is very elementary compared to everyone's lovely poems. Oh well, I tried, wrote the first thing that came to my mind, and no editing.

Exceedingly lovely.

A bit sad yes, of course. But lovely.

I think I'll pull out my Bach and give a poem a whirl tonight.

Music prompts are awesome... Some of my favorite poetry is inspired by music such as With @jesskristie and @Diana605 :-)

Thanks - will have to try again - it's a fun way to write - it actually took me longer to write than I take with most my poems
this happens to be the longest poem I have ever written.

Hey, I am checking this blog using the phone and this appears to be kind of odd. Thought you'd wish to know. This is a great write-up nevertheless, did not mess that up.
