Moondustwriter Thursdays - Featuring Friend & Poet April Higney

I hope you enjoy April's work. Many times I read her poetry and am inspired to write. I think good poetry has that intrinsic ability to inspire.
Enjoy!!!

Beyond the Flesh
A Poem By April Higney

Sometimes she slips out beyond her flesh,
a soul, travelling upon lands never seen,
drifting along currents, pulled by the moon,
across the rocky earth, fields swaying green.

An astral projection,
to watch the Vortex up high,
along a plateau,
between red sands and the changing magnetic sky.

Swirling with the dust,
that plays along the wind over the ground,
whistling, musical breezes,
her soul has found.

Another soul drifts near,
love within the mind,
passions merge, without fear,
crossing a bridge without looking behind.

Emotions sing along the skin of her soul,
as he makes love to her heart,
embracing the touch in every view,
as though refreshing the paint upon an old piece of art.

His lips, the taste of berries,
or portions of life held sweet.
She slips back into her flesh,
whispers, “one day perhaps, our bodies will meet…”

Lovers Beneath The Moon

I laid
beneath the pines
inhaled woodsy scents
watching the moon
catch the edge of our tomorrows

***

You laid
sand crackled under our skin
listening as the waves crashed
watching the moon
play hide and seek

***

I laid
caressed by the dawn
heard things you had done
watching the moon
dance in your eyes

***

You laid
heard the whisper
of your long ago lover
watching the moon
glance upon emptiness

So a question to make you writers ponder - What theme / genre do you feel most comfortable writing?

I love being able to feature a friend and a fellow poet. April so often inspires my poetry.

You can probably figure my genre- I am a romantic and unlike my script writing and tech stuff I like to write beneath the moon. So what genre do you soar with???

Happy Moondustwriter Thursday!!!

April my dear you write passionately and you do know what emotions to plague on in your poems. I love that outer body experience that you have projected so well in the poem and the imagery is so vivid. My favorite lines are:

"His lips, the taste of berries,
or portions of life held sweet.
She slips back into her flesh,
whispers, “one day perhaps, our bodies will meet.."

Oh am pretty sure they will meet.. Superb April!!

April, I like the thought of slipping out of the flesh and are able to do things and feel things that would not be the same if you just stay where you are - not only in the flesh but also in the kind of life one has with all the responsibilities and restrictions that go along with it - beautiful!

Leslie, such a smile. I get so sensitive and those silly happy tears. I know you do these precious features on Thursdays and honored you made me a part of it. Beyond that a treasured friend.
~Your poem is very beautiful. My imagination can be highly in tune, can almost smell the scent of that beautiful forest of yours! ~ I sometimes get so in tune with certain things, it can be similiar to an out of body experience, and I wonder whyyyy, how. (sometimes this part of me can be frustrating too, like I need to get back into myself) ~As much has ocurred of this life, somehow I manage to still hold my heart upon a sense of romance too, part of that is truly brought on in the inspirations of others as well, undoubtedly dear sister of the moon, you certainly are one to do that!! ~ Going to blip, sending you a tune to twitter for a smiling Thursday, and adding a link directing to One Stop! *HUGE HUG* Thank you so very very much! ~ April

I like yours, withe the twist at the end. Good stuff!

Wow... both poems are fantastic. April, glad you feel it a happy honor to post for Moondustwriter Thurs. I know Leslie's work has inspired you in the past, and it's perfect that you had the opportunity to post poetry together. The outer body effect uplifts the lines literally.

Moon, nice of you to share your day. Brilliant write and always like thinking about the questions too.... Which genre do you soar with... I'd like to think fiction.

Happy Thursday!

Just beautiful, April and Leslie. Both of your poems are pure romance. Reading them made me feel all squidgy inside.

Not sure what happened, as I was commenting via my Google Account. "Anonymous" is I.

April's poem rocks, of that there's no question. I can see how she would be an influence on M's writing. And, M, your poem today made me feel soothed and just a little bit melancholy. Ambivalent is the word, I think, but ambivalent in a good way. :)

I am looking forward to a great Friday with my dear friend Dustus.

I wonder if we could do what we do alone. I'm glad I don't have to find out. I have wonderful, talented poet and writer friends who keep me on key.

April - this is the first of many time we will get to show others your beautiful words.

Perusing through One Stop and figured I'd drop by here, the place I left off just before my computer problems (via lightning striking a cord in my house and wreaking some havoc) ~At the time I had not gotten the chance to thank everyone for their kind comments (being offline awhile) ~You are all awesome inspirations. Greatly appreciated the kindness of your words! ~April
