*Contest Announcement:
Okay, this contest is non-traditional, promises to be fun, and even involves video skits... Our good friend Kseverny (Richard North), the creative one-man force behind the Arts Web Show, would like to read humorous poetry during one of his next episodes (TBA). I told him the One Stop Poetry community may be able to lend him a hand in a way that promises to expose the selected poetry to a large audience. In addition, One Stop will also post what he selects. Think about it.... Could you write a poem that will make us all laugh? If so, email your entry to adamdustus@gmail.com I'll send the poems to K without names attached so he will decide on the readings. Hope you will take part in the fun!

*******
One Shot Wednesday, here's how it works:

1) post a poem to your blog
2) link your poem to One Shot using Mr Linky, where you will be prompted to enter your name and the URL for your poem. The URL is the web address for your poem
3)Visit other One Shot Poets, as many as you wish. Tell them how you feel when you are reading, encourage and interact with them. If you wish to critique remember to be positive and constructive, negative criticism does not help anyone.
4) Tell others about One Shot Wednesday by including a link to this page on your post
I look forward to reading your posts.
Thank you for your participation,
dustus

One Shoot Sunday - The Day After... Food Baskets for the Poor & Poetry Challenge

Did you ever think what happens one or two days after you deliver the bountiful basket of food for a family in need? I have held both ends of the basket. I've delivered many baskets and received many too. I know the feeling as a child to see a delivery from kind hands and hearts. As a child, I never worried about when we would eat; my poor, single mother did when her paycheck ran out on the twentieth of each month. She always had a look of relief when a bag food or a spare meal was delivered by a neighbor. She knew that for another day her little ones would not go hungry.

So to those of you generous folks during the holidays &
during the year...  Thank You. ~MDW
The Day After...
A poem by Leslie Moon
Today an abundance
of turkeys abound
potatoes in boxes
twenty-five a pound
***

cans and cans
fill the bags
candies for the kids
see how they sag

***
full of wishes
for full tummies today
families with nothing
shout a grateful "hooray"
***
"mommy where did
the food all go?
It seemed like plenty
not long ago"
***
"We ate it all
my darling -you see
we will wait for next year
bags again for you and me"
***
The plight of the homeless
the orphans and old
"such kindness the one day"
stories are told
***
Three hundred and sixty four
it's up to them
to scavenge and hunt
in the generous garbage bin
***
 There are big hearts
each day will see
the needs of those bellies
they will give freely

Waste
a poem by Pete Marshall

Across the fields and thoroughfare
when harvest reaps with food to spare
and eyes are wide with hope and prayer
we bring a feast to tables bare
and chose the gift of gratitude
to warm our hearts in helping you
then turn our backs on plenitude
and seal the barn of Corporate food

One Stop Poetry Spotlight: Dulce

Today I have the honor or turning the spotlight on a very passionate poet, Dulce. I honestly don't know where I met Dulce the first time, but if you drop by Sweeter Poetry, you will understand why I stick around.

Dulce has been writing poetry since she was a teenager, mostly in Spanish, and only for herself. She fell in love with lanuguage and literature and after reading so many great poets/poems at University, she started writing in english.

Today Dulce is 45 and an English Language teacher, teaching english to adults in Gran Canaria-Canary Islands. Enjoy! ~Brian

Woman Coming from the Water by Fusunyeremyam

Perfect
This much I’ve learnt:

Cannot be always right
So hardly ever- in fact.
My knowledge
Keeps on being
That imperfect union
Between the outside
And myself.

But that constant link
With all its imperfections
Does not undermine
The importance of that bond
Of one thing
To the other...

My poetry is a reflection of what I have experienced in life, not only (though especially) love, but also any other human concerns. It's the best way to me to open my soul and get to understand my life and life in general. ~Dulce

Figure it out

I’ve disappeared through

These sheets and walls

That’s not only

Figurative.

From that start

When our hearts lost control

Knowing we were born

To grow apart

But still we insisted on

Sailing to non-existent isles.

Missing days filled

With memories

Of broken stars

As I woke up.

I’ve waited

I’ve dreamt

I’ve felt jealous and

As furious as a bear

…And I loved you

Anyway…

We could not catch the rainbow

But it was there for us to stare

From anywhere

…And you loved me

Anyway…

Guess that’s just

Figurative

One Shot Wednesday Week 17

Welcome to  One Shot Wednesday. I'm Moondustwriter (aka Leslie Moon) hosting this round of poetry. We want each of you to feel welcome at One Stop Poetry. I'm thinking this week's poetry might have some unusual characteristics since Halloween is lurking. (come back this weekend I think the guys have a few things under their sleeves.) If you have been coming by regularly, can I encourage you to at least read the post before yours so that each person has at least one comment (this is especially true for late posts). If you are new, please comment and tell us who you are so we can welcome you properly.
Thanks to each of you for your wonderful writing  and for inspiration each week.

Here is the format for those of you just starting
1. Write a poem
2. Come to One Shot Tuesday night or anytime Wednesday and put in the necessary information on Mr Linky. If Mr Linky is down you will need to put the URL in the comment box. The URL is the web page address of your poem
3. Leave a comment (we love to hear from you)
4. Take a few moments to read a poem or two and give some words of kindness. I personally like constructive criticism but if you do that keep it positive. We have poets of all levels. I know how much it means when the reader can give the poet some encouragement. Thanks all of you for always knowing the right thing to say.

Have a great One Shot Wednesday

One Shoot Sunday: Hosted by Adam Dustus

Claudia's iPhone Picture Prompt Challenge!

When she's not getting us primed for One Shot Wednesday with her Tuesday post, our One Stop Teammate Claudia enjoys taking photos on her iPhone. In fact, the photos and picture prompt used in this post were all taken using her iPhone during her walk on Friday.

"I do this quite often," Claudia reveals, "I take pics of what I see and then work on them with the apps I have on my phone while still walking - and sometimes almost get knocked over....smiles."

What prompts you to take photos, Claudia?

"What prompts me to take pics? Hmm... I see something and I love the details or the atmosphere, and then I take a pic. As I have my iPhone always with me, it's easy and I'm always prepared.. and I love the apps to intensify the colors, the atmosphere - sometimes alienate them... I have also posted some on my blog - just recently added an iPhone pic page."

"Yesterday I took 3 of them [pics] and flooded twitter....(also while still walking) - tagging them with "color-drunken," "summer-tired" (the one with the corn), and "winter-bound."  If you wanna see the others as well, have a look at my twitter stream."

Thank you, Claudia. Appreciate your sharing your photos with us.

Claudia's Poetry Blog is http://splittergewitter.blogspot.com/
Here's the link to her iPhone pics page.

And now for the Picture Prompt Challenge!

Give it a shot! Accept the challenge :)

Thank you, Adam

Also a reminder - Friday the 22nd is the last day that One Stop Poetry will be accepting submissions for the "Through the eyes of a child" competition. Please make those submissions to: Oneshotpoetry@gmail.com
