8:15 on Tuesday...
the sun, already making its majesty known, in the sky, passing through pink and orange, unveils a soft blue over the lush green canopy of the forest behind our house. pops and creaks of the wood deck, settling from an evening stretch, accompanies the twitter of birds, in a curious serenade to the new day.
a family of deer shyly poke their heads between trees, then cautiously step across the lawn to nibble at cast off grapes beneath the arbor that stands at the end of the brick path off the back of our house. at their nuzzling, butterflies stir from the vines, performing a dance, dipping and turning.
pungent coffee perfumes the air, rising in waves from my mug, as i draw its warmth through my fingers. this is the moment i realise i have forgotten you.
the sudden realization starts a hammer against the anvil of my chest, a great squeeze grips my heart, crumbling it like paper bound for the trashcan. i want to retreat to the bedroom, to curl on the floor beside the bed, still wrapped in my clothes, closing my eyes to see if i can find you, but i stay, fear of finding nothing pinning to my seat.
you are a fog, barely perceived, there one moment then gone. i tremble, unable to even conjure your face. the touch of your hand, i once relished, erased. all the words once spoken, lay in a jumbled pile in the corner of my mind. i am utterly alone, as the morning unfolds around me, anxious that may you have forgotten me as well at...
...8:15 on Tuesday.

One Stop Spotlight: Breathe by a poem by Claudia
today it is my privilege once again to spotlight one of the many talented poets i have found in the blogosphere. for those that have been participating in One Shot Wednesday, this name should be familiar.
it was not too long before we started One Stop that i stumbled upon Claudia at SPLITTERGEWITTER (which means 'a thunderstorm of splints'). while Claudia will tell you she is just learning poetry, she does some wonderful things capturing moments of life in words. do drop by and visit her and enjoy this poem she breathed, just for us. ~brian
Breathe
the moment
my lips touch
cool metal
and my tongue senses
the rough surface
of warm wood
magic happens
i start to breathe
and you come alive
i start to breathe
and you begin to sing
they call you woodwind
i call you respire
i'm in a tense mood
and don't even realize
but you will show me
with your sound
i'm down?
you sound bluesy
i'm on top?
you dance along
there's a key for each emotion
and an embouchure
for every moment
love
when stainless steel
gets warm
with my breath
and I
get warm as well
and we jump and play
like children
like desperate
like lovers
like losers
like champions
from the highest pitch
to the deepest depths
and I breathe
and I don't wanna stop
to breathe
life into you
like the one
who breathes his life
into me
and fills my inmost
with sound and rhythm
with meaning and significance
and warms my heart
with emissive breath
and still feels the taste
of rough wood and soft soil
beneath his tongue

Moondustwriter Thursday
You Stood
by
Moondustwriter
by
Moondustwriter
You were the first thing I climbed
I was but a girl
pretending you were my horse
your stood firmly
playing along
You stood proudly by
watching as I grew
I rode that mare
and was thrown
You never laughed
There came the day
I was too bold
approaching an angry bull
you stood offering safety
a strong arm
You opened your gates wide
my first time
mastering the blue truck
you stood smiling
at my success
You stood sagging
I waved "goodbye"
pulling my mare and memories
behind the blue truck
"come home soon'
you wanted to say

The Vortex of Passion
by

by

Take a breath - please
caught
reeled in
forgetting
the danger
Look away - Please
mesmerized
by something that isn't real
magnetized
to the pull
Look around - PLEASE
see
the horizon
reality
something to hold on to
Draw Back - PLEASE
before you are
sucked
into the vortex
of passion
Draw Back - PLEASE
before you are
sucked
into the vortex
of passion
Where
passion appears
to be
Everything...
