One Shot Wednesday - Poetry Week 13

Welcome to another One Shot Wednesday. I'm Moondustwriter (aka Leslie Moon) hosting this round of poetry. I have to say we have all been taken aback by the response from poets who come to our site. I hope you agree that there are well written, thought provoking pieces posted each week. Thanks to each of you for your friendship and for inspiring me to be a better poet.
If this is your first week, please comment so we can welcome you properly.

Here is the format for those of you just starting
1. Write a poem
2. Come to One Shot Tuesday night or anytime Wednesday and put in the necessary information on Mr Linky. If Mr Linky is down you will need to put the URL in the comment box. The URL is the web page address of your poem
3. Leave a comment (we love to hear from you)
4. Take a few moments to read a poem or two and give some words of kindness. I personally like constructive criticism but if you do that keep it positive. We have poets of all levels. I know how much it means when the reader can give the poet some encouragement. Thanks all of you for always knowing the right thing to say.

Have a great One Shot Wednesday

  6. Thank you all for your help in posting to this site. I am very happy to be amongst other poets. It's a lonely enough life without poetical company!

I'm publishing my third book in a few short months, "White Cranes of Heaven" with Lulu.com. This time it's all seasonal poetry....50 poems of the year's cycle.

I'm impressed with what I have read so far (just today) on your site. This is a really good mix of poems. I'll reread carefully and try to give some critical comments. I'm reading things now that help in this poetry criticism. It ain't easy, but I don't believe that poetry is so subjective that it's really impossible to critique. It's more than rhyme, meter, foots (feets??) but there's also that intangible commodity....what strikes at the experience or emotions of the readers. The stuff that makes the all-important connection between writer and reader.

Thanks for welcoming me to this site.

  31. Greetings my fellow poets, I'm working in Brooklyn this week with my co-writer, a self imposed intense writing session...finally working on "that book" but this poem rang in my head at 3am Tuesday morning. Hope you all enjoy and i will visit your sites during my much needed breaks... :)

  32. Long day at work but it still be Wednesday...barely. I lift my glass to all my new poet friends.

  33. I've been having a great read this evening.
We appreciate your taking the time to comment and encourage each other.
Please do not feel the need to read through and comment on each poem. If you have oodles of time I know how it is appreciated - but I know that a few words of encouragement go a long way. Our goal most certainly is not to burn our gracious poets out. Poetry should be enjoyed like a good wine not plowed through.
Savor these fine poems...and thank you!!!!

I think more people have read this poem here than anywhere since I wrote it, and published it, in one of my books.
